Alternative energy technologies are out there but they need supporting both at the political, business and community levels if they are to become commercially viable.
Coal is king because it is cheap and the infrastructure is already in place to take advantage of our massive reserves of this fossil fuel. It's part of the reason why we Australians have the lifestyle that we have - however, there is a big price to be paid unless we change from this form of energy.
